Well we made it back from Hawaii last week safe and sound! We had a great trip-lots of relaxing, swimming in the pool, snorkeling and laying out in the sun, "healthy" eating, reading, movie and tv watching, visiting Mount Mauna Kea and the observatory, all and all everything we hoped for! We stayed in Kona at Sea Village for the first 4 nights (dry side of the island, has a strip of bars and restaurants along the water downtown and cute little shops) then went backpacking one night at the Volcano National Park, and then spent the last 3 nights on the wet side of the island at Sea Mountain (remote area, far away from the city attractions). We saw sea turtles while snorkeling at a beach about 20 minutes drive from Sea Village in Kona, that was probably one of the highlights of the trip for me they are so cute! The observatory on top of Mount Mauna Kea was also a great highlight. They had a few huge professional telescopes set up open to the public and we could view the Milky Way, and a few of the planets with them, it was really amazing. I have never seen so many stars, ever. We are already missing the sunshine and the 80 degree weather there! Looking forward to returning hopefully sometime in our near future.
