So Richard and Jim did it! They left 6am on Friday to head over to Mt. Rainier. Then they trekked 8 long hours to Ingraham Flats where they set up their tents Friday night. All day Saturday was spent getting adjusted to the altitude and elevation. They tried to sleep from 7pm-12am that evening, before making the big climb, but Richard said they couldn't really sleep, because it was so cold and windy. Then at 12am they started their trek up to the top of Rainier and 6 long grueling, exhausting hours later made it to the top at 6am. He said as they were hiking to the top the sunrise was beautiful. And they arrived home safely too, phew! Richard said it was the hardest thing he's ever done in his life, which I can imagine! He came home with the worst sunburned/windburned lips I have every seen...so swollen and painful looking, with white blisters forming...but if that's the worst thing that happened the whole weekend, then that's a blessing! And 2 days later they are already starting to look much better and back to normal. I'm so proud of him, what an accomplishment. He said the view at the top was absolutely amazing...you could see Mt. Baker, Mission Ridge, Mt. St. Helens.....! Amazing!! Here are some pictures from the incredible journey....enjoy!
